Firelighting

On a weekend when my girls were over, we did a camp fire to roast some marshmallows.

TRIP REPORT – Operation Butterfly, 17-18 September

It was a beautiful, clear sunny weekend in South East Queensland. Perfect weather for Operation Butterfly, which is a round-robin training event with a Queensland geography and history theme.

Scout patrols had to navigate to each checkpoint (aptly named after significant Queensland regions) for typical scouting activities like knotting, construction, trivia quizzes and teamwork exercises.

Tomahawk Refurb Project

Inspiration came to me on a lazy Sunday afternoon for a new project:
Replacing the handle on my tomahawk.

.

The current handle is polymer synthetic, and it’s way to flexible to be useful.

INDUSTRY NEWS – Crossfire Australia and Qore Performance

Some great news from our old friends Crossfire Australia partnering up with Qore Performance.

Here, both companies have a chinwag about their capabilities and integration of both companies equipment.

It’s a fascinating discussion. I’ll have to acquire one to try out for integrated hydration options.

SNEAK PEEK: Kondalilla Falls and the DG-3 Slick

Thanks to our old friends and long time supporters at Crossfire Australia, we had an opportunity to try out a new pack.
The DG-3 Slick is an internal frame, less “tactical” looking pack for those wanting to look a little bit less obvious, or just not needing external pouch capability.

TRIP REPORT – LandForces Conference, June 2021

LandForces Conference was on again this year.

It’s billed as a forum for decision-makers throughout the region to enable networking opportunities between manufacturers, senior management (both civil and military), and equipment/service suppliers. This means there’s some really big international conglomerates as well as small business.

This is what winning feels like…

This is what winning feels like:- Quiet exultation, tinged with bittersweet sadness.

My latest article on fighting order evoked some very interesting responses on one of the Facebook pages I posted it on.

A Group Shot or…. I emptied my shed!

A challenge was set awhile back by someone who didn’t believe me when I said I have “a few packs”.

This is after doing a decent cull of the herd last year too.

So what do we have here?

.

*Ahem*

21x packs of various types/sizes

1x satchel (HRO)

3x sets of chest webbing (I know there’s another set of belt webbing somewhere in the shed)

2x plate carriers

.

Can anyone pick what I’ve got in the line-up?
