INDUSTRY NEWS – 4to1 Consulting
My friend Buck has just joined the rest of us knuckle-draggers stepping into the modern digital age and setup his own consulting business with a web presence.
Since Buck still sings the United States Marine Hymn in the shower to remind himself of his days in the service, you can imagine his business isn’t exactly going to be about flower arranging. His area of expertise is one near and dear to the heart of many grunters – belt fed light and medium machine guns.
I wish him all the best in his new business endeavour, and look forward to seeing some of his new products for the big lumbering bruisers tasked with carrying the section/squad firepower.
Check out his website here:

Survey – Your favourite kit
A first for this place, I now feel comfortable with the amount of “stuff” I have on here now. It certainly gives you, my readership a feel for what I’m about, and some of my thought processes.
So, now is the time to start experimenting with this wonderful media of the interwebs, and see what you lovely people have to say.
To this end, I’m going to kick off a bit of a quiz/survey.
What you’ve seen from me so far has been what I’ve been playing with, and some of my suggestions on what I reckon is good enough to mention to others.
What about yourselves? Is there any bit of kit that you’ve bought yourself and been really, really impressed with? Such that you don’t know how you lived without it?
It doesn’t have to be high end, custom designed by the Illumati, made by little green elves using Unobtainium.
It can be something you’ve picked up for less than a tenner, thinking only to give it a go, and been utterly impressed with it.
So, feel free to tell me what you’ve been playing with, and why you like it.
A bit later down the track, I’ll ask you about what you’ve tried and been disappointed by. So for the moment, we’ll keep it to the positive side of the house.
Look forward to hearing what you’ve got shoved into your pack.
In your own time – go on.

I Don’t Like People: Whitsunday Great Walk, Conway National Park, Oct-Nov 07
Situation:
Overlooking the backpacker mecca of Airlie Beach in sunny North Queensland, The Whitsunday Great Walk meanders over the Conway Range. According to the Queensland Parks and Wildlife website about this walk, there is the chance wander through majestic rainforest, splash through seasonal creeks and overlook the coastal townships, watch for the flash of the Ulysses butterfly and the haunting call of the wompoo fruit dove. There are a selection of tracks throughout the area, for different time spans and abilities. For the great walk, meandering through Conway National Park for about 30 klicks, and intended to take 3 days, there is two main camps: Repulse Creek and Bloodwood. Both camp sites have self-composting toilets and water tanks.
